SOY LIZ

Liz De León was born in El Paso, Texas, but raised across the border in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, where Spanish was the only language spoken at home. Her family immigrated to the United States just before she started elementary school, bringing with them a strong work ethic and deep cultural roots that continue to shape her values today. The youngest of four children, Liz grew up with a commitment to hard work and education. Now a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in San Diego, Liz lives with her husband, who is of Indian descent and speaks Punjabi, and their two young children. Together, they’re raising their children to be fully bilingual in Spanish and English, while also introducing them to Punjabi and reinforcing language skills with basic sign language.

Motherhood was a monumental turning point for Liz De León, especially as a Spanish-speaking immigrant in an English-speaking community. Facing challenges in preserving her language and culture, Liz saw a need for educational resources that went beyond mere entertainment to provide effective Spanish language learning for young children.
With a background in music and dance, Liz brings creativity and passion to every lesson. She writes simple, engaging songs with clear pronunciation, repetition, and phonics, designed to help kids retain Spanish vocabulary, learn about safety, and develop healthy habits.
After studying the latest research on children’s media use, Liz adapted her channel to align with best practices in early childhood education. Contributions from Liz’s colleagues, many of whom work with children in the medical field, have enriched the channel’s offerings. Proceeds from the channel go towards supporting community medical fundraisers, mission trips, and monthly sponsorships for the Corazón de Vida Foundation, an organization that aids orphaned children in Mexico. Liz’s dream is for this channel to reach families in need, empowering them to pass on their language and culture while also expanding support to more charitable causes.
Inspired by the loss of a loved one, Liz De León pursued a career in nursing, beginning her studies at the University of Texas at El Paso. While completing her degree, she gained hands-on experience as a preschool teacher's assistant. After graduation, Liz moved to San Diego, where she took on various nursing roles working with both children and adults. She then advanced her training at Loma Linda University, specializing in anesthesia, and now practices as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) for patients of all ages.
Dedicated to giving back, Liz also participates in mission trips, serving as both a care provider and a Spanish translator in countries including Peru, Honduras, Mexico, and others
